Mother of the Year? Me? Really?

For some strange reason last week William decided to watch Blues Clues again...something that he has not done in quite some while.  Will loves TV and the computer....and Youtube naturally gives you that combination.  Today, while I was getting dressed, he asked me if he could use my computer.  Of course I said yes....A little while later I walked in on him watching this!  And apparantly he had seen it before because he said, "mom, you have to see it when Blue shoots herself, it is Sooooo funny"....disturbed?  yep!  Mother of the Year? Not So Much...

WOW~

William.....12-10-2003....12-10-2008...GOTCHA!

has been home 5 years TODAY at 4:55PM!  In adoption it is commonly referred to as his "gotcha" day.  This was a picture of us at the airport....look at that sweet, sweet boy!  I cannot believe it has been 5 years.  Where did the time go?  I am so very grateful to have him in my life, well in all of OUR lives.  He is simply a sweet, hugging, Wii playing, LOVING, drawing, laughing, goofy, movie memorizing,  picture taking, compassioniate, tooth knocker outter, did i mention LOVING...kid you will ever meet.  He is a constant reminder of unconditional love, what it is and how AWESOME it is.

It is often surreal to think that this little boy was born so far away that I first saw on this website  is now here with us, happy and HEALTHY making our lives better every day.  I am so thankful to his birthmother for giving us this precious gift.  I hope to meet her face to face one day and express my gratitude to her. I am sure she thinks about him often and wonders where he is and how he is doing.  In one word...GREAT!  I am very thankful to Harry and Bertha Holt for having the foresight into International adoptions and fighting against sometimes seemingly impossible odds and ignorance.  I am very grateful to the staff at Seoul National Childrens Hospital.Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for taking care of my sick little boy and patching his little heart, you patched more than one that day :)

There could not have been a better fit to our family.  EVER!! He fits in perfectly with his sisters....and is oddly enough a combination of both of them.  (all the GOOD qualities of course:) I often claim that it must be through Osmosis but I suppose someone greater than us maybe knows what he is doing!

I love you very much Will, you are the single best Christmas present ever to be received and it will NEVER be topped again!

Art Conspiracy 4...

Nothing like posting an event AFTER the event took place....good grief!  Anyhoo, I had the priviledge of working an event this past Saturday in Dallas called the ArtConspiracy.  It was FABULOUS!  These people worked tirelessly to raise money for Preservation Link.  The program enables kids in South Dallas a chance to use video and photography to document and explore their community...They had 150 artists create original works of art and held live auctions the night of the event.  Beautiful, beautiful artwork! There were 3 bands....Mount Righteous, Aton and Chamelon Chamber...Unsure how many people were there, but the 40,000 square food warehouse sure seemed crowded at times!  lots and lots of fun and I am very honoroned to have been a part of it...

stole this from my neice.....

Eve was not taken out of Adam’s head to top him, neither out of his feet to be trampled by him, but she was taken out of his side to be equal with him, under his arm to be protected by him, and near his heart to be loved by him.

The model....

William did a photoshoot for Sams Club.  In ran in the Thanksgiving "black friday" add!  He was not too impressed but his oldest sister, Emily was sure jealous.  She gets the "oh blonde hair, blue eyes...NOT so much".  It seems "they" need boys and ethnic/dark haired kiddos.  So an asian boy, right on.  I was oblivious to all that, but now see that companies are trying to seem more rounded...odd the things you don't notice until it is brought to your attention.  Anyhoo, he is darn cute isn't he....his sisters too....even with thier blonde hair and blue eyes!

Down on the farm

In mississippi. At Uncle Lawrences and Aunt Angie's. Petting cows and
the new calves. Riding 4 wheelers and dirt bikes. Playing with
cousins. Having Wii tournaments. Eating lots of pie. Does it get
much better? Probably not ;)

testing.....linking...Hal...

ok, i tend to be a bit challenged at first....I want to test linking to something....hummm....ok here is something. Very cool guy this Hal Samples.....thought i would share his greatness.  If you want some awesome pics made of you, your family...he is the guy to call!  he is gonna be taking my offspring very shortly....you would never ever be disappointed this I assure you!

Twilight....what else?

I finally went to see the movie Twilight last night....Have had friends see it all weekend, reviews were all over the place.  I like to read, nothing to heavy, love story types...sue me I am female :)  Generally when a book that I really like becomes I movie i am not impressed...Potter movies for me were a the exception.  Great, great books....the books were still better than the movies but they were visually FANNTASTIC.  You get a picture in your mind when you read a book and for me Hogwarts looked like it was suppose to?  The characters?  unreal....you think when watching the movie that J.K. Rowling was actually thinking about the folks who played the characters while she was writing the book!  and to me it seemed like the movie came first....Twilight though? I found it a bit cheesy to be honest.  I did not realize that they were just filming this in March/April...I mean serioulsy?  filming in April and the movie was in theaters November?  what was the Rush? That is High School Musical fast :)  a couple of the actors were a little to unreal for me, BUT who's fault is that? the director...  perhaps they need a new one.  what was up with the no blinking business?   a little TOO intense...awkward.  I so wanted to like this movie and yes I KNOW it was made for teenagers, but come on when Edward said "hold on tight my little spider monkey"....the guy who played Edward must have thought that was the dumbest line he had to say!  Goofy! so they could also use a new writer...hey maybe i missed my calling?

That being said, I am still reading book 4, did not like the second one, loved the third one.....and so far #4 is good.  And yes I will go see the second movie....with the whole weird Jacob thing...with all the teenage girls :)  I hope they pull it together!

now after all that...I so love the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. Now that is some good, good, non-thinking, guiltless reading....all hail Grandma Mazur!

Fort worth zoo

I got the honor of hanging out with some very cool kids at the zoo!  William and the kindergarten class!  Let me just say, boys and girls are DIFFERENT!  neither one better than the other, just different.  We spent LOTS of time in the herpatorium...which is a first for me and they were digging the venomous snakes!  ha....and of course the zoo has penguins now for a bit, so that was way cool!  and I will be glad when they get finished with the new 30,000 sq foot herpatorium...that is gonna be C-R-A-Z-Y!!!  oh and there are 4 new lion cubs....so, so, so dang cute!

fruit of the loom?

Emily went away to camp for the first time this past summer and she cannot stop talking about it. I mean seriously, she did not really want to come home!  She constantly talks about all the things she needs for next year and makes tons of "powerpoints" to make lists of things she needs....you know......NEEDS!

This past year we borrowed a trunk from a friend as we were unsure if this was something that we were going to do on a continuous basis and i did not want to dump a whole lotta cash (any more than we had) into something that could have very well been a one shot wonder. When we got to camp, I was amazed at all of the trunks and how DECORATED they were.  They are not just plain black trunks anymore my friends....oh no...they have names on them, they are painted with scenery and monogrammed.  Hell, I fully expected to see some of these to stand upright and be a full on closet inside with clothes on hangers, draws, the whole shebang...they truly were in a class by themselves.  And there was our oh so sad and boring black truck, it stuck out like a 1 in a sea of 10's.  and those that know me,  SO not my thing...overboard?  in my opinion, oh yes.  But still there it is....what are you to do?  I tell you what you do...you paint your trunk next time, that is what you do! And of course, it is not enough for your kid to do this, they must be completed by professionals...you know everything is a competition these days :(  Anyhoo, a good friend of mine, let's call her Christy, cause you know that is her name :)  She is like way talented in the "can do anything"domestic goddess department.  You know these types, they can literally DO anything....monogram a pillow case? yeah, they got the machine for that right in the laundry room.  Paint a pony on the ceiling?  sure should only take a couple of hours?  homemade valentines?  all in an afternoons work!  cookies and homemade ice cream when the kids get home from school....yep! got it covered!  (to this day I have NEVER made homemade cookies...NEVER and do not plan on it anytime in the future...i dont even like cookies!  so anyway, it is a damn good thing christy is much awesomeness or i would feel really really unworthy to be in her presence!  wait...i am off track....

So Christy's daughter, Catherine and my Emily went to camp together (along with 2 other friends)....The other day emily says to me. "Hey mom, when we get my trunk i need to think of something really creative to paint on it."  "um, sure, i guess emily. what do you have in mind?"I am looking at her super sweet face.  then she says, "well catherine has the fruit- of -the -loom stuff all over hers."  I then look at her perplexed, "Fruit-of-the-loom?  really?  that is weird. why does she have that on her trunk?"...exasperated, she looks at me and lets out a sigh, "mom, you know it is a song?"...then she proceeds to sing the song....something...something...something  "fruit-of-the-loom"....I look at her, my sweet, sweet, naive completely unobservant beautiful little girl ....and said, "erm, emme.  i think you mean fruits of the spirit"....she stares for a bit and says..."oh yeah,  that is it!  so what is fruit-of-the-loom anyway?"......WOW~ it is amazing how that apple fell right outta this tree!

Now Grace is going next summer as well, so come February I will be crying as we are deciding on the decorations for these trunks....help?????

I am a bit out of control....

for some reason this morning....I am NOT doing what i should be doing, which is organizing this girl scout crap, washing clothes, cleaning bathrooms....instead I am sending cards from Someecards.com...I adore this site...and could spend hours looking at the cards (not shocking). enjoy and check them out!  It is a good laugh...

Say what???

Could this be for real?  a telescope for your iphone?  It comes with a clear plastic case that the tele attaches to....crazy or what?  Ok, i have got to get this gadget!! I am thinking Christmas...now if they could come up with a way to take pics indoors and at night with the phone.....WOWZERS...

My problem at the moment

is that I am a bit obsessed with my phone... I went out with some gals back in february, stuck my phone in my jeans and went to wash them the next day...washing my phone.  Every cell phone i have had has met with disasters of the H2O kind!  anyhoo,  last time i "synced" the phone, it took 6 hours....my impatience was running on L-O-W....most of that was the backup time and  downloading the newest version.  I took off a bunch of apps and streamlined some ringtones....(btw..myxer.com=free ringtones, very, very cool).  so we shall see how long this sync takes...the backup was really quick this time, unsure what that is all about....I am thinking user error :)  that would not be a big surprise

Change....

II

I love this time of year when all the trees begin to change.  It is not nearly as pretty here in Texas as it is in much of the country but all the same, it sure is nice to see.  When we lived in Virginia and Atlanta, it was spectacular!  It also reminds me  that supposedly things are going to "change" now ....i suppose time will tell if that is a good thing or a bad thing.   And I suppose it all depends on if YOU profit from the change or not....that seems to be the driving force behind the elections....$$$$$$.....but I for one vote for it being a good thing for those who help themselves....

of course with the change in the season, i get an awful bad headache....hummmm......or is that also from the election?

I have this vase...

And I really like it ;)

THAT BOY!

yesterday while Emily was at piano, grace, will and i headed over to sprouts to grab some fruits and veggies...will LOVES to touch everything in site...especially things that "break"!  of course this was no exception....he likes to run his hands down the cans and jars like you would a keyboard....ok for cans, NOT ok for jars....he did it to the spaghetti sauce, "No WILL don't do that", over in the grapefuits...touch, touch, touch..."WILL, NO SIR"...while we were checking out, there is salsa stacked to high for salsa to be stacked.  "WILL!  Do not touch anything else, if you do you will be grounded!"  on the WAY OUT THE DOOR there are some sorta bottles of lemonade or some healthy for you breakable crap, and again..he just cannot help himself....down the bottles go his hands.  I just STOP..."William, what did I just say to you?  Not to touch anything right?  You are grounded from your DS"...then he chimes in "and the computer too for 2 days? I know MOM!!!" (it would appear he has heard this before)....he growls at me and says between clenched teeth..."you make me so mad sometimes, YOU are grounded from your PHONE...so there!"...WOW...he really nailed that one :)  Damn funny kid!  but yes, he is grounded...

This picture was early 2003, just a month or two after Will came home!  look at those stinkin cheeks!!!!

Light the Night

The girls and i headed to Frisco Saturday for a Light the Night walk in honor of Kim Irvin. It was held at Dr. pepper park...I had never been there, really nice place. It was a goodtime and we felt so honored to have been able to hang out with the Irvin clan, all day really!  (they had a get together that afternoon before heading to frisco). Blake got tired and had to ride on his dads shoulders most of the way.  We all had red balloons, while survivors had white and those who lost loved ones had gold.  When we got to the end and keith cut his and let it go, I got a bit teary eyed.  the girls of course did not understand the symbolism. It has been 2 years now since Kim passed away and i honestly do not know how keith does it. Cole seems to be doing ok and blake is so young that he just does not understand, but it breaks my heart to be with maddie, she just looks so sad sometimes.  she has gotten a lot "happier" each year and does not seem to shy away from things as much, but she still does not like unfamiliar situations and you can see the fear in her eyes.  when she is with me and i catch her thinking....i always wonder what she is thinking about, I really like spending times with maddie and look forward to her hanging with us on those girl scout days...

Halloween!!

yeah, it was halloween and the kids and I apparantly really like black..who knew?    I did not realize that we were all in black until someone made a comment about it....HELLO....duh!  anyhoo, emily's hair was suppose to be purple, the top of the ozone unfriendly can said so...wrong!  I really wanted to be a grandma...got the moumou, short stockings, glasses, wig and all...but got outvoted by the other two witches.  the boy you ask?  NOT a warlock...duh!  how many warlocks pull rabbits out of their hats people?  He was a magician...yet again, duh!

It was fun and it was FRIDAY night!  thank goodness.....

we have candy, A LOT of candy, I am so sick of candy...and cannot believe i just wrote that....I realize that I have NO self control!  i always suspected, but now it is blatantly obvious!

I am still trying to figure this blogger deal out, so forgive me. I DO NOT and WILL NOT re-read and make corrections to these posts...I like them in all their original form!  and i am too lazy to give a damn! i am going to play around with it for a while before letting folks know it is here and available for them to view on an hourly basis :)  ha....in the meantime, i am writing to myself!  And am sorta digging it!  it is kinda like "the other me"....hummmm!!!  and yes i love .... and !!! and :) and  ;p~
